Breastfeeding an Easily-Distracted Baby
Some babies are easily distracted while nursing, especially as they get older and start moving. You may have been able to watch the TV while breastfeeding before, but now the voices and music cause baby to pull off and turn away. And nursing in public becomes a game of hide-and-seek!
Introducing bottles to breastfed babies can be a stressful and emotional time for parents and baby. Breastfeeding is important when you and baby are together; however, if you will be apart for a feeding, it will take some time and patience by your caregiver to teach a breastfed baby to take a bottle.
Almost Six Months: Continued Benefits of Breastfeeding
The longer you breastfeed, the more health benefits you and your baby will have – for mom, that includes a reduced risk for breast cancer, ovarian cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. Research has shown that the longer a woman breastfeeds, the less likely she is to get these conditions or diseases, or the less severe it will be. While breastfeeding doesn’t make you immune from these conditions, it does significantly reduce your risk.
